Bell and Trunk family,
This is the busiest time of year for Bell and Trunk and it's hard to sit down for even a minute, but it always gives me so much joy collect my thoughts and write what feels like a love letter to you, our favorite flower fanatics and loyal longtime customers.
I'm going into my 16th Valentine's Day at Bell and Trunk and my fourth Valentine's Day as a person in recovery from alcohol addiction. What feels different this year is just how much love and support that's going around. Our network of favorite vendors at the SF Flower Market, our amazing team of dedicated designers, our Potrero Hill neighbors, my beloved South End Rowing Club community, and most importantly our dedicated customers lift us up and make the work feel joyful and meaningful. Every morning when I wake up nowadays, I thank my higher power for the connection in my life that allows me to not only do what I love for a living but also thrive.
Bell and Trunk has endured a recession, a pandemic and most recently major credit card abuse from a trusted vendor at the flower market. It feels good to be present, clear and content, even in the midst of all the chaos in the flower world and in the real world. Thank you, Bell and Trunk family for all the ways you've supported this small but mighty business.

3.) This year at Bell and Trunk our Valentine's Day strategy is to end our online orders early to focus on creating beautiful things for the shop for all the folks who make the journey to our store. If you are too late to place an order online, come on by and pick out a beautiful bouquet or choose from our carefully curated selection of gifts.
4.) We're at the top of a well regarded list of Best Florists in SF. And it feels good to be among flower friends--Eleanor from Wallflower and Vanessa from Polk Street florist are also on the list. The San Francisco flower world is a small tight knit community of business owners who lift each other up.
An article I wrote for The San Francisco Chronicle a loooong time ago about the waning popularity of the most ubiquitous Valentine's Day symbol: the red rose, still rings true. Some customers think giving red roses is tacky or even a bad omen. But I still think red roses are the 1960 Cadillac Eldorado of the flower world and I don't mean that as a put down. Roses should be put in the same category as so many other threatened classics: hardcover books, newspapers, diners with jukeboxes, record players and good table manners.
Bell and Trunk is inspired by classic icons from by-gone eras and can't resist the sentimental allure of the venerable red rose. We ditched babies breath a long time to update the look but this year we're taking it a step further by adding in even more interesting textures and greens. You might see unique greenery like geranium and silver dollar eucalyptus and unexpected textures like lucadendron and hypericum berries. Our "colorful" option isn't a crayon box of color but carefully considered color palette that is more ombre than over-the-top. We think this classic option, infused with some youthful whimsy, will be the first choice of many hopeful romantics.
