People in power try to convince us that the villain in our American story is each other. But that is not our story. That is not who we are. That’s not our America. It’s about We the people!

Introducing our newest team member Grace Ko. She comes to us just in time now that weddings and events are heating up again. We didn't want to rush into hiring someone new and the timing of her email to us couldn't have been more perfect. She was one of 107 students who signed up for our virtual flower arranging class hosted by RELATED, a property management company, back in March. She said she liked the class and working with blooms so much that she wanted to come and worth with us. Grace has a career in corporate immigration but studied art, design, photography and architecture in college. Her favorite pastime is observing paintings in various museums. She is a natural fit for us--her flower arrangements look to be inspired by Dutch Masters. She in energetic, optimistic, thoughtful, organized and kind. We are go grateful to have someone with such a cultivated aesthetic and worldly perspective on our team.

We've expanded our store's offerings to include ceramics made by local potter Soshana Roodman, and beaded malas by longtime Potrero Hill neighbor, artist Anne Diamond. Shoshana's pottery is made at Hickory Clay in the Mission and is the perfect choice for someone who wants to elevate a few blooms or a potted plant into a gift that will sure to be a cherished work of art. If you're looking for a gift to appeal to someone's spiritual side, Anne Diamonds's malas, or mediation beads, are destined to inspire. Each glass bead is unique and strung with others into a glorious strand of color and light. To get you started, we will enclose one of Anne's hand-written mantras.

Random Acts of Kindness Flower Giveaway

We have a special relationship with longtime customer, Ruth Cox.  We did her daughter's wedding flowers, delivered florets to her first grandchild during Covid when she couldn't be at the hospital herself, and have gotten to know her and her family through numerous other interactions over the years.  Last month she went on a little vacation but instead of pausing her flower subscription she decided to donate the flowers to a person or organization she thought would benefit from a little appreciation.  She didn't specify a recipient.  When I suggested Planned Parenthood,, it all made perfect sense!  Ruth's mother is one of the founders of Planned Parenthood and her daughter works in women's health.  In keeping with the theme of of women's health, the next batch of flowers went to the WIC clinic in Potrero Hill.  It felt pretty good to walk into both places with a beautiful arrangement to see the surprised smiles on all the faces.  Ruth has inspired us at Bell and Trunk to keep the Random Acts of Kindness going.  Do you know of an organization doing great work in the community or an unsung hero who would appreciate a floral delight from our flower shop?  In honor of our 13 years in business we will be giving away 13 floral arrangements between now and the end of the year.  To enter, go to our website, click on the link at the top of the page and tell us the story!
